Koofy Reader Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-09-29
How Koofy Reader handles local reading data, downloads, advertising and support requests.
1. Scope and operator
This policy applies to Koofy Reader (com.koofylab.koofyreader) for Android and iOS, provided by Koofy Lab. The app reads TXT and EPUB files and offers book and font downloads.
2. Data kept on your device
No account, login, or in-app purchases are required. Imported books and covers, book groups, reading positions, fonts, reader settings, the ad-free expiry time, and advertising choices are stored in app-private device storage.
The app does not upload imported books, covers, or reading history to our servers or publish them to other users. Device backup and restoration may operate separately under your operating-system settings.
3. Downloads and infrastructure logs
Firebase Cloud Functions, Cloud Firestore, and Cloud Storage provide the public catalog and book, cover, and font downloads. Content identifiers, IP addresses, request times, responses, and error information may be processed to deliver and secure these services and diagnose problems.
The app currently does not include user accounts through Firebase Authentication or user analytics/crash collection through Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics. Advertising SDK statistics and diagnostics are separate.
Firebase Remote Config checks for update notices at app startup. Firebase installation identifiers, app version and device or operating system information may be processed to deliver configuration values. Reading content and history are not sent for this feature. Analytics-based personalization and A/B testing are not used.
4. Advertising and your choices
Unity LevelPlay mediates banner and optional rewarded ads from ironSource Ads, Unity Ads and Google AdMob. Advertising providers may process IP addresses, device, operating-system and app details, and ad impressions, interactions, rewards, and errors for ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and diagnostics. Advertising identifiers and personalization data depend on your choices, OS permissions, and provider policies.
Advertising and privacy information is presented at first launch. The advertising SDK is not initialized before this flow is completed. On Android, you select an advertising preference in the app. Declining personalized ads does not prevent reading. Non-personalized ads may still process limited information needed for delivery and security.
On iOS, Continue leads to the Apple tracking permission prompt if permission has not been determined. Continue itself does not grant tracking permission. Denied, restricted or undetermined permission results in non-personalized ads. In Settings > Privacy and advertising you can review the status and restrict ads to non-personalized ads. OS tracking permission can be changed in device settings. Existing non-personalized advertising preferences are preserved.
Rewarded ads play only after you choose to watch. A completed reward hides banners for two hours; it is not a reward for granting tracking permission.
Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) checks regional advertising privacy requirements at app launch and presents required messages. Completing a form is not treated as agreement to personalized advertising. We restrict advertising to non-personalized ads where regional consent management is required, and do not request ads unless the SDK permits it. Reading remains available if the check fails. Where applicable, you can change choices in Settings > Privacy and advertising > Manage advertising privacy choices. The SDK stores consent status on the device and may use IP addresses and app/device information to provide the consent flow.
5. Support and reporting ads
If you contact our email address or report an ad, your email address, message and attachments are used to respond and investigate. The app does not automatically send email or attach book contents or reading history.
For an ad report, the time, placement (library or reader), ad description and device information help us investigate. Remove sensitive information before attaching a screenshot.
6. Providers and international processing
Google/Firebase provides hosting and downloads, Google provides email, and Unity/ironSource and Google AdMob provide advertising; Google UMP provides consent management. Data may be processed in the United States and other countries where providers and their partners operate.
Catalog metadata and Cloud Functions use the Seoul region. Cloud Storage for downloadable files uses a US region. Please consult the linked provider policies for their processing, retention and deletion practices.
7. Retention and deletion
Books and covers can be removed from your library. Uninstalling the app or clearing app data removes app-private device data. Original imported files, separately saved copies and OS backups must be managed separately.
Your advertising choice, choice time and notice version are stored on your device and can be updated in settings. The ad-free expiry time is local and is not a purchase record.
Support email is retained as needed to resolve the request and necessary disputes, subject to any legally required retention. Infrastructure logs and advertising data follow their processing purposes, applicable agreements and provider retention/deletion policies.
8. Your rights and safeguards
For applicable access, correction, deletion, restriction or consent-withdrawal requests, contact our email address. There is no app account to delete. We cannot access or remotely delete reading data that remains solely on your device.
This app is not designed for children. Where local law requires guardian consent, those requirements apply. Contact us if you believe a child’s information was improperly processed.
We use app-private storage, HTTPS and file-integrity checks, but cannot guarantee absolute security of electronic storage or communication.
9. Changes and contact
We update this policy and its date when our processing, services or relevant requirements change. Material changes are communicated through the app or website.

Selected-text translation and pronunciation
Selected text is translated on the device using Google ML Kit. The source text and translation are not sent to Google translation servers or our servers, and the app does not save a translation history. Pronunciation uses the device speech engine.
The SDK may contact Google to download or update language models and send API performance and usage metrics. See the Google ML Kit privacy information for details.
